The Chabad Loft

SERVING DOWNTOWN NYC FOR 18 YEARS

The Chabad Loft in its current form was established 18 years ago, as an innovative center for Jewish outreach in the Union Square area. For nearly two decades, at the crossroads of downtown Manhattan, we have been providing spiritual counsel and upliftment to people from all walks of life -- from warm Shabbat dinner tables that welcome long-time New Yorkers and visitors from out-of-town alike, to our Sukkah in the Park that welcomes 1,000’s, Purim parties, high holiday programming, to one-on-one Torah and Tanya classes, to the big and small Mitzvot that touch us all. Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings and funerals, yes, but also ministering to daily life: hanging Mezuzahs, kosherizing kitchens, putting on Tefillin, discussing a quotidian problem through a Jewish prism, and learning the basics of davening with a focused mind.

We believe our atmosphere is unique: always welcoming and non-judgmental, infused by tradition and Chabad outreach yet completely in tune with and unafraid to be immersed in the world around us. Our attendees range from those who are fully Shabbat and kosher observant to those who may not have ever before felt welcome in a traditional Jewish environment.

The Loft 2.0

Tonights fundraising efforts are entirely focused on our plans to upgrade to the NEW Loft which will include a larger and upgraded space. The New loft will give us the opportunity to expand our work in both the quantity of participants and expansion of programs we will offer
